Case Load: Approx 200 emergency hospital cases per year. 10 outpatient cases per week. Average of 8+ inpatients per day. Diagnostic imaging/lameness (Digital Radiography, CAT Scans, Nuclear Scintigraphy, MRI)

60% medical and/or lameness cases 40% surgical cases

Daily treatment of inpatients, assist primary clinician in outpatient/lameness cases, assist surgeon, assist technicians imaging and treating patients, rotating shared emergency coverage after-hours
Philosophy of Internship:
To provide the intern with an intensive, hands-on educational experience, with exposure to large and varied medical, surgical, and imaging caseload.
Prerequisites of Application and Internship:
DVM or equivalent, Curriculum Vitae, letter of intent and 3 letters of reference. Would prefer that the candidates visit the clinic prior to application.

Employee Benefits:
Continuing education allowance, NH and Maine DVM licenses paid with one day out for exam for each state, 4 days vacation and 2 personal days.

List of Internship Duties in Practice:
Daily treatments of inpatients, assist primary in outpatient examination, diagnosis and treatment, assist surgeon in pre-surgery evaluation and preparation and scrub-in for surgery, write discharge instructions for inpatients and dispense medications, client and referring DVM communication regarding cases. Other duties as required.
Emergency Duty Requirements:
Rotating emergency on call with backup senior clinician. Emergencies include colics, lacerations, fractures, and others. The workup surgery and aftercare are the interns responsibility with technical assistance.
Amount of Supervision:
First 45 days very closely supervised by primary clinicians, surgical director and hospital director; thereafter supervised daily by primary clinicians to whom you are assigned on rotating basis.

Commensurate with experience
