Daily treatment of inpatients, assist primary clinician in outpatient/lameness cases, assist surgeon, assist technicians imaging and treating patients, rotating shared emergency coverage after-hours
Goals of Externship:
Practical application in equine veterinary medicine and diagnostic imaging in equine and companion animals through a hands on approach.
Prerequisites for Externship:
Enrollment in a preveterinary or veterinary degree program.
Application for Externship:
Letter of intent with at least one reference.
Dates and Duration:
Year round with 1-10 week duration.
Practice Responsibilities to the Extern:
Daily rounds, weekly meetings, and a practical hands on case education.
Externship Responsibilities to the Practice:
Daily treatments of inpatients, assist primary in outpatient examination, diagnosis and treatment, assist surgeon in pre-surgery evaluation and preparation and scrub-in for surgery. Other duties as required.
