Disaster Relief

Photo courtesy of Dr. Neal HendersonDisaster Relief Fund
A disaster relief fund for horses was formed for the AAEP Foundation after four major hurricanes hit in just six weeks in 2004. Funds were raised to assist in the aftermath of these disasters to help supply veterinarians with satellite telephones, equipment and supplies. Aid also is supplied when needed to reliable equine groups, veterinary schools, associations and others that step in during times of disaster.
This fund has helped to fund the training of horse owners, first responders, AAEP veterinarians and veterinary students in emergency and disaster preparedness. Now and in the future, the AAEP Foundation Equine Disaster Relief Fund will support valuable disaster preparedness resources and response efforts for horses, veterinarians and horse caregivers.
