AAEP Owner Education Speaking Opportunities

 Purina Mills Horse Health Fairs 2008

The time is here once again for exciting veterinary opportunities, the Purina Mills Horse Health Fair. These “edutainment” events are focused specifically on the overall health of the horse with this year’s topics revolving around “special needs” horses. Purina Mills’ dealers host the events in their local markets, allowing for program customization while providing a forum for local topics of interest and specific horse health issues to be addressed.

AAEP has also made it easier for the veterinarian not to turn down a speaking opportunity. The AAEP has built a collection of PowerPoint presentations based on the Bayer educational brochure series. These custom-designed, ready-to-use presentations are perfect to use when talking to large groups of horse owners about equine health. Each presentation can be downloaded to your computer directly from the AAEP Web site or is available on CD-ROM. To request a presentation on CD-ROM, contact Dana Kirkland at dkirkland@aaep.org. There is no charge for the CD.

Purina Mills Horse Health Fair events are held Sept-Nov, and are being formed now. Each Veterinarian who speaks at a Purina Mills Horse Health Fair event is eligible for 20 free bags of Purina Mills® horse feed so don’t miss this great opportunity to meet new customers, say thank you to current customers, and receive some free feed all in one spot!

Veterinarians who wish to participate are encouraged to contact their Purina Mills equine specialist for details. Purina Mills equine specialists and a schedule of events can be found at www.equinevetnutrition.comor by calling (800) 227-8941.

Ask the Vet Education Opportunities

If you enjoy educating horse owners and already spend time on your computer each day, consider helping with Ask the Vet, a monthly question-and-answer column on the Horse Owner section of this site where horse owners pose questions to the AAEP "Expert" on a specific topic. Topics of interest have been suggested, but you are welcome to pose your own selected topics and areas of interest. To participate, please send your area of interest/expertise, along with a current resume, to Dana Kirkland at dkirkland@aaep.org.

Available Ask the Vet months for 2009 include:

* January - October
