Where Your Dollars Go

The AAEP Foundation is committed to being the authority that identifies and promotes equine research, focuses on current and emerging issues in the equine community in the form of educating or becoming a leader and fosters endeavors that help the horse.  Below are just some of the many ways the AAEP Foundation helps the horse.

Helping Through Research

• Equine Respiratory Panel (2005)
• Equine Colic Research Symposium (2005)
• Equine Research Summit (2006)

• Equine Respiratory Research Meeting and Panel (To be held – July, 2010)

Research Priorities Survey and Report - This project identifies current and pressing health issues and sets the stage for what the Foundation will address in the future.  Survey and reports have been conducted and completed in 2003 and again in 2009.

Equineresearch.net - Designed to promote and identify current projects via an on-line catalog of ongoing research studies, this Web site decreases unnecessary duplication of research and fosters sharing of information between researchers.

Equine Research Coordination Group - The Equine Research Coordination Group (ERCG) is a group comprised of researchers and organizations that support equine research. Participants in the ERCG include equine foundations and multiple university research representatives.  The goals of the ERCG are to:

1. Increase funding for equine research.
2. Provide education on the importance and benefits of funding equine research.
3. Coordination of research information within the equine research community.
4. Explore opportunities for joint funding of equine research projects.
5. Identify the current needs of researchers and research community.

Equine Research Funding Support - Annually the AAEP Foundation supports research projects funded by other funding agencies through the American Quarter Horse Foundation, Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation and Morris Animal Foundation.

Helping Through Outreach

Committed to funding and fostering endeavors that help the horse and the equine community, the Foundation’s benevolent interests include:
