How to Give Practice Open Houses or Tours1. Mail or e-mail fliers to clients at least three to four weeks ahead of time.
2. Post fliers for the open house at local tack stores, feed stores and other local gathering spots. 3. Post information about the open house on the practice Web site if available, and e-mail client list information and updates prior to the event. 4. Have a presentation from one of the practice veterinarians on a topic of interest to the clients such as nutrition, managing the geriatric horse or dental care. 5. Invite a vendor. For example, if you are going to have one of the veterinarians talk about nutrition in the older horse, have a local vendor representative come to the open house. 6. Have stations set up to showcase equipment so that clients will know what you have to offer. For instance, have the endoscope out for clients to look at. Have some interesting x-rays up on the viewers for owners to see. If you have new state of the art equipment, show it! 7. Have all of the staff attend the open house and be available to answer questions. 8. Have refreshments/coffee for attendees. 9. Make sure that the hospital is thoroughly cleaned before the open house! 10. Make the open house last two to three hours, so people can more easily work it into their schedules, yet the staff doesn’t feel like they are there all day. 11. Schedule the open house for a time when the clinic is closed, such as a Sunday afternoon.
