Markel Insurance Company/AAEP Foundation ScholarshipSince 1989, the AAEP has collaborated with the American Live Stock to offer a scholarship that rewards an  d points to the best-of-the best in each class of veterinary students. The AAEP Foundation is proud t o now have Markel Insurance Company as the new co-sponsor of this scholarship. Since 1989, more than $320,000 has been allocated in financial assistance to veterinary students through this scholarship program.Eight fourth-year veterinary students are selected each year to receive a $2,500 scholarship each from Markel Insurance Company and the AAEP Foundation. These scholarships are awarded to those veterinary students who plan to pursue a career in equine veterinary practice and exhibit academic excellence and leadership in activities that benefit the health and welfare of the horse. Students interested in applying must also have the support of AAEP members and their clinical instructors.  Each AAEP Chapter can submit one candidate to compete for these eight scholarships. The AAEP Foundation also provides a $300 travel stipend for the eight winners to the AAEP Annual Convention to receive their award.
