Bingham Joins Staff as Foundation Development Coordinator

October 20, 2009

Jodie Bingham, APR, CFRE, has joined the staff of the American Association of Equine Practitioners as development coordinator for the AAEP’s benevolent arm, the AAEP Foundation.  Bingham’s chief responsibilities will include the development of Foundation fundraising programs including major giving, planned giving, grant awards and corporate giving efforts.

Bingham brings more than 25 years of development, public relations, association management and equine industry experience to the AAEP Foundation. Prior to her most recent position as director of the University of Kentucky’s Center on Aging Foundation, she served three years as the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation’s first full-time director.  Before her time at the Kentucky Horse Park, she worked for five years as vice president for advancement at Union College in Barbourville, Ky. She also has served stints in development at Otterbein College and Ohio Wesleyan University.

“Jodie is a respected professional with an outstanding record of building support for the institutions for which she has worked,” said David Foley, executive director of the AAEP. “Her deep knowledge of philanthropy and the industry are powerful assets that will serve the AAEP Foundation well.”

A graduate of The Ohio State University in journalism and public relations, Bingham has earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) and Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designations.

“I am delighted to join the AAEP Foundation team,” said Bingham. “This is an opportunity to combine experience in fundraising with my passion for horses. As the Foundation builds on the groundwork of the past 15 years, I believe I can help accelerate the board’s efforts toward increasing support from AAEP members, their clients and others that care about the health and welfare of horses.”

Bingham can be reached in the AAEP office at (859)233-0147 or jbingham@aaep.org.

The AAEP Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, was created in 1994 as the charitable arm of the American Association of Equine Practitioners. The AAEP Foundation’s mission is to improve the health and welfare of the horse through support of research, education, benevolence and the equine community.  Since its inception, the Foundation has allocated more than $1.5 million to support various programs of its mission.
