Veterinary Sport Horse Symposium

From local Pony Club competitors to World Equestrian Games stars, the Veterinary Sport Horse Symposium will prepare you to treat all of your equine patients as world-class athletes. Held in conjunction with the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ in Lexington, attendees will gain knowledge in the following areas:

• Evaluating challenging equine lamenesses, the use of oral topical and injectable medications on joint disease, and how new diagnostic modalities such as MRI have impacted the field of equine lameness and orthopedic surgery.

• The newest FEI regulations for medication usage in competition.

• The newest diagnostic tests for muscle diseases of horses.

• A case-based panel discussion with surgeons and internists regarding the recognition of gait deficits in performance horses to help distinguish between lameness and ataxia.

• Development of shoeing techniques to complement performance.

• The use of MRI to diagnose and manage many problems, particularly from the carpus or the hock joints to the ground.

• Use of ultrasound to evaluate the vertebral column of the horse.
